A key trend that is already a focus and we think will continue throughout the year is the focus on functional design – bedroom furniture and furnishings that not only look great, but are really practical too. Parents and Carers are very often busy people (!) and so practicality twinned with style is a real bonus. Along with practical style, we will also see plenty of multi-functional design for both children's toys and bedroom furniture. In particular, both Consumer and Designer will focus on products that can grow with your child - like the classic cot bed, or a high chair that converts into chair - or a cot that can become a desk. Consumers are keen to be able to buy items that last and with a focus on the environment, this kids bedroom trend is to invest in quality kids furniture that is built to last.
As we start another brand new year, we take a moment to consider the kids bedroom trends for children’s bedrooms and Play Rooms in 2016. What styles and colours will be prominent in kids interiors and what themes are likely to be strong?
Kids bedroom trends that will emerge in 2016, include the use of stars and clouds in wall art and lighting to create the feeling of an ethereal World with positive dreams. New colour palettes will use deep purples and blues, contrasting these with pinks and greens.
A staple kids bedroom trend that will continue is the bright and tropical Jungle. Jungle scenes of bright and bold jungle animals have been popular for some time and will continue to be a part of current interior trends for Nursery and bedrooms in 2016.
Natural fabrics and materials will continue to gain more and more focus from the Consumer and the visible use of natural fabrics and wood, will become more prominent in many designs. Woodland animals are a great way to frame this theme and will be presented in a natural and rustic manner. Bringing animals into bedroom design can encourage children to connect with nature and explore their natural surroundings and the use of natural materials and animals is a great way to stimulate this exploration.
All of these designs bring the outside in and create colour schemes which are calming. Much has been said about the impact that strong reds and 'loud' colours can have on a child's sleep. Softer palettes and natural scenes may be more calming. Choosing clouds and birds or trees and Forest animals could be the answer to a beautiful bedroom interior, whilst also soothing your little one to sleep. We think that these themes are a lovely way to create a calming atmosphere for your child and we hope that you enjoy exploring 2016's kids bedroom trends.
